I went today!
It was absolutely amazing!
First, it was my first time traveling by train in the United States, so I was really worried whether I'll be able to get to Wilmington. But it was alright. I got there and took a taxi to the rink. Obviously that is a famous place in Wilmington because the taxi driver knew exactly where I wanted to go as soon as I mentioned figure skating. I wasn't sure how exactly I'd get there, so I started really early. As a result I arrived at the rink at 5:20 and the reception was not supposed to start until 6:15. So I received my ticket and had to wait in the cafe. I could watch some of the young figure skaters practicing through the windows. The kids' mothers were really excited about the show and spoke of how wonderful it had been the previous day.
Then it was time for the reception. It was really interesting. I was the first person to arrive. And they called the reception sponsors' reception or something like that, so I was not really sure I was at the right place. But everyone seemed fine with my presence there and they were all so nice that I soon relaxed and forgot to feel out of place. So first it was just me, Randy and the girls who were preparing the food. Then their mother came. She was extremely nice and learned my name and some details about me, so that she could introduce me to whoever else came. Randy is one of the skaters who performed in the show. He was telling me about the show, the skaters and the rink, while we were watching Johnny warm up through the windows (the reception took place upstairs) when the real sponsors arrived. They were also very nice. Then the skaters started coming. First, there arrived Kim Navarro and Brent Bommentre, followed by Viktor Pfeifer and Nicholas Taylor. We were introduced to everyone. It was really cool! I couldn't believe that no one else wanted to take advantage of this amazing opportunity to meet the stars of the show! I took a picture with Kim and Brent. Oh, wow, she is so beautiful! And small! I told Brent that I loved to watch them at worlds. I really did! They look great together. Earlier, he had pointed out that he liked my button. They both thought it was really cool!
Then I talked to Viktor for awhile. He said he was going to take classes at U Penn during the summer and was considering taking classes during the fall semester, too. That would be so wonderful! I haven't heard of other skaters who have ever studied here. I was wondering why. But it will be great to have Viktor, especially if he chooses to stay with us!
Then I talked with Nicholas Taylor. He was really nice. But I think I made some blunders. I didn't know he and his ice dancing partner had won a medal at Junior Nationals.
So maybe in connection with that I said something really stupid.
I am not sure. Anyway, he wants to go to senior Nationals next year. And I promised to be watching!
We had a kind of long conversation because we stayed next to each other, both not knowing what to do.
Then his partner Kirsten Seagers came together with some of the other girls form the club. Randy, of course, introduced everyone to everyone else and said a few words about each of the girls. They were all dressed and ready for the show. The sponsor's fiance actually mentioned that their dresses were really beautiful!
I forgot to mention that while I was talking to Nicholas, Kim Brent and Viktor were actually talking to each other.
Then one of the three coaches who choreographed the show stopped by and sent Nicholas to bring us programs, so that we can get everyone's autographs. By that moment everyone knew that I was dying to see Johnny. But for some reason he wasn't there. So I thought that he was not coming.
The next person to come was Mac Kern. He is pairs skaters. His partner was already there. When everyone else of the skaters left, they stayed for awhile. Randy took a picture of the three of us. Mac was really cute and was joking around about his not having put on his costume, while his partner was all dressed already.
And then the wonderful organizer who had learned my name (but I am stupid enough to have forgotten hers
) came to me to tell me that Johnny went for coffee after his practice. And she wanted to know where I was sitting so she could take him to me, to meet him. That was so nice of her. But it wasn't really needed, because right then the man in question appeared. I was so happy to see him: "Johnny!" She tried to introduce me. But he said that he remembered me and gave me a hug.
Needless to say how much I love this person! So then I gave him my present. He liked the card on top of it. It was in the shape of Bulgaria with some beautiful Bulgarian sceneries on top. The present was a quill. It is really cool , in my opinion, because it is an actual feather attached to a metal point. It is sold with ink, too. I just love those Romantic old-fashioned things. He was interested where people buy strange things like that.
I had actually bought it from the university bookstore. Then the sponsors came to meet him. Then they took a picture of us.
And then everyone left and I had Johnny all to myself.
I asked him about the trio number. He said that it is coming along slowly because they are careful about Denis' knee. But he also said that it is going to be better than the Fallen Angels. That would be really amazing! Oh, he also mentioned there was some secret about it, but he would not disclose it. I told him how happy I was that he finally won a world medal and that I was saving money to go to Worlds in LA to see him win his first gold! Johnny was wonderful! He was sitting on a chair and since I was standing he was looking up at me with his beautiful big eyes. And he smelt so nice! He gave me another hug at some point. And before he left he wished me luck with my exams. And he said that he wasn't sure if he would do any more shows in Europe, but apparently it is possible that he would have a show in Bulgaria. Oh Wow! I hope he will and I'd better be there at the time. He was surprised to find out that we've watched the Czech show when I told him how much we loved his performance of Ave Maria there. I haven't seen the whole show yet, but Johnny was so excited about it. He said it was the best show he had done!
Then he had to go because the show was about to begin. He said he would meet me again after the show.
So I went to watch the show.
I had a general admission ticket for the show and I was a little late, but I still succeeded in finding a seat on the second row with the first being empty, since it was too low, and thus the boards got in the way of one's view.
The show had two parts and a 20-minute intermission. It was really cute! With all the wonderful tiny skaters. It was mostly kids and a few "senior" skaters (I am borrowing Randy's term). They skated to music the children had chosen. The show had 6 acts, each unified by a specific theme. They had Beauty and the Beast, Happy Feet, old musicals and so on. I really enjoyed it.
The last act belonged to the most accomplished skaters from the club and to the guest skaters. Johnny was last. He skated his new number to Feeling Good. I loved it! He had a new costume, too. I'll post the pictures in a few minutes. He showed some great attitude and dancing! I loved the number. He had said that he wanted to practice dancing which was the reason why he was doing this number. He was beautiful! He is such an incredible artist. I have never seen him in this role before: throwing killing looks at the audience, but I think he played the role soooo well!
Johnny didn't do encore. I don't know why. They just started the finale. So everyone went out. Johnny was last. I am not sure what he did. I just remember that everyone was shouting and clapping. Then he took pictures with the kids, going around with their coaches, while they were trying to arrange everyone. Johnny then went among the kids for the picture, right in the middle. It was so sweeeet!
And after that he went backstage.
Unfortunately at that point, I had to go, if I wanted to catch my train: the last one to Philadelphia. There was a taxi waiting outside, which I shared with the girl who had called for it. We talked about the show and Johnny and figure skating. Then she got off. The driver dropped me at the station and I successfully caught the train to University City, Philadelphia.
It was a wonderful evening!
Thank you so much, Johnny!
Wow!
(blush)
И аз изброих Champions on Ice и Marshall's. И той някакъв, как ще им е трудно "to live up to that."
(hug) (h)
Off, to write :)))
